Lisa Strand has spent over 15 years executing market research and user testing within a variety of industries. In addition to managing projects and ensuring client's key questions are addressed, she conducts online surveys, in-person and remote user tests, market segementation and analysis, and is also an expert at integrating secondary research into all of Brookside's analysis.

Until 2003, Lisa served as Director and Chief Analyst of the eCommerce Strategies Service at Nielsen//NetRatings, a leading Internet Audience Measurement & Analysis firm. Within this capacity, she helped a variety of companies integrate panel-based research with other sources of information to address complex business issues.

Prior to Nielsen//NetRatings, Lisa served as a Senior Analyst at GartnerGroup Dataquest, where she worked with Telecommunication and Networking vendors in sizing and forecasting within those markets. She previously conducted market sizing and customer satisfaction surveys at VLSI Research, and also provided market research services for Asahi Agency, a Tokyo-based agency providing marketing communications services in Japan to US and European-based businesses.

Lisa earned her BA degree in Economics at the University of California, San Diego, with additional coursework completed at Tokyo International University. She has presented at conferences such as COMDEX and Internet World, and has made multiple televised guest appearances on CNBC, CNNfn, TechTV, and more locally KGO Channel 7 News and Silicon Valley Business This Week.

Kazuyo Masuda is an experienced qualitative researcher, specializing in ethnography, providing ethnographic data to help businesses gain the edge in today’s highly competitive markets.  Her offerings include qualitative data, consultation in understanding the utility of the data, and helping clients make raw data actionable.

A wide range of industries is represented in Kazuyo’s work.  Most recently, she served as a senior ethnographer at Ethnographic Research, Inc. and through them has consulted in the areas of consumer electronics, consumer product goods and durables, pharmaceutical companies, financial services, advertising agencies.  She has conducted work in Australia, Taiwan, Japan and the U.S.  Prior to Ethnographic Research, Inc., Kazuyo has worked in a number of subject areas, including gender issues, race and ethnic relations, and medical research in educational settings. She has led multiple workshops for clients and students in ethnography and its related methods, and has conducted well over 800 structured, semi-structured, in-depth and open-ended interviews.

Kazuyo holds an M.A. in Sociology from University of MO-Kansas City and Communication from Wichita State University, and BA in Mass Communications from Friends University.  A native of Japan, she also holds Japanese Pedagogy License from Columbia University and Hokkaido International Foundation.  She has presented at conferences such as the Marketing Research Event, Society for Applied Anthropology, Midwest Sociological Society and Eastern sociological Society.
